Zach & Schlrae Married | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Wedding Photography

A gorgeous day, and an even more gorgeous couple.  Schlrae and Zach said their vows and celebrated becoming Mr. & Mrs. Mikelson at Blue Lake Ranch in Durango, Colorado.  People, I tell you, it could not have been more beautiful!  When I shot their engagement session last year, it was clear this couple was completely in love.  Giggle fest to the max!  I had too much fun with them that day, and I knew their wedding day would be simply amazing.  And that it was.  The location, the light, the love ... swoon!  Schlrae and Zach had the sweetest vows, a great dance party, and the.best.details throughout their entire day!  And, AND - the father of a bride wrote a song for his daughter!  And played it during their father daughter dance, with video and photos playing up on the big screen.  Seriously my favorite father daughter dance to date - talk about pulling on your heart strings!!  Not a dry eye in the house =).  Over all - I give this wedding day an incredible on a scale from 1-10.

While gathering details of their wedding day, I asked them both to give me 3 words to describe each other - how sweet are these two?!

Schlrae's three words to describe Zach // Intelligent . Loving . Selfless
Zach's three words to describe Schlrae // Stunning . Kind . Loving

It was a complete honor to photograph your special day Mr. & Mrs. Mikelson, and I wish you a lifetime of happiness, love, and giggles.  =)

Shevelle Turns One | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Family Photography

I can't believe how time flies!  A year ago I was photographing this gorgeous couple, and now their baby girl has already turned one!  It's incredible to me really, all the things that little one's accomplish in their first year of life.  Steps, giggles, personalities!  We did a mix of a family session and a birthday smash cake, and the outfit change may or may not have caused Shevelle to give us the stink eye a couple times ... but boy did she still float our boat with that precious little smile!  This family is too adorable and I could totally photograph them all day, any day!  Thank you sweet Abila family for letting me capture your family as it grows!!

Nutella Swirl Zucchini Bread | Tasty Tuesday | Kayla Kitts Photography

Tasty Tuesday!

I can't lie .. I've become a little bit obsessed with Tasty Tuesday.  It totally gives me a reason to get away from the computer a bit, bake, and one of my favorite things to do: eat!  I do admit that I'm going to need to catch up on "business posts" but for now I'm happy to bring you the oh-so-delightful:

--Nutella Swirl Zucchini Bread--

Recently, we had a fun family day at the farmers market, and picked up zucchini among a plethora of other yummies.  I had already found this recipe from The Girl in the Little Red Kitchen, and was so excited to try it out!  I mean com'n ... you can't go wrong with Nutella!!  And if you don't agree with that, we're officially not friends ;)

Kidding, kind of - not really.

Best thing about this recipe:  it makes two loaves!
I kept one for us to hoard (*insert no shame here..), and packaged up the other one for a little thank you gift.

What you'll need:

3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 cup tightly packed light brown sugar
3 cups shredded zucchini
1 cup unsalted butter, melted
3 large eggs
6 heaping tablespoons Nutella

What to do:

- Heat your oven to 350 degrees F, and grease 2 9x5 loaf pans.
- In a large bowl mix: flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg, and brown sugar.
- Press out excess moisture from zucchini with tea towel or colander.  (I was in a pinch and just used some paper towels .. did the job.)  Add to the flour mixture.
- Pour in the melted butter and the eggs.  (My eggs weren't quite room temp, butthay.)  Stir until well combined.
- Divide the batter between the two pans, and drop 3 heaping tablespoons of nutella on the top of the batter to each pan. (I added a bit more, ;) cause I could.)
- Using a butter knife, swirl the nutella into the batter.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let cool completely in the pans on a wire each before removing.  (I may or may not be the most patient person in the world, and give it about 15 minutes.)
- Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days
- And the delightful Girl in the Little Red Kitchen says that the bread can also be frozen for up to 3 months and defrosted by leaving it on the counter to thaw.  I have yet to try that, but good info to know!! =D

Also - a little note.  I did a bit of reading, and found out that bread packages well in parchment paper (and not so well in all other things, haha!)  So, parchment paper and ribbon it was.

Enjoy!

Choco-chip Banana Bread | Tasty Tuesday | Kayla Kitts Photography

Tasty Tuesday!

Another Tasty Tuesday.  I'm diggin' it.  ....Most likely because it gives me an excuse to try some new goodies, but hey.  Don't judge me.  ;)

Next up:

--Choco-chip Banana Bread--

My munchkin always says she wants bananas.  And thennnn... and then, she never wants to eat them.  So, without fail, I spied naners getting brown on my counter, and that was it.  I knew I must find a banana recipe to put those neglected things to good use.  I found this recipe on Seeking Joy, and I tell you, it is delish.  I found myself thinking "...I better grab some more bananas so they can be neglected..."  Ha!  We'll definitely be having this one again.

And, my goal of all Tasty Tuesdays:  easy.  super easy.

What you'll need:

1/4 cup vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
2 eggs, lightly beaten
1 cup mashed bananas (about 3 bananas)
1 cup chocolate chips (and a few more for good luck)

What to do:

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees & spray a large loaf pan.  (Like, really spray that bad boy)

Whisk flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.  Mix in oil, bananas, and eggs.  Stir in chocolate chips and pour into bread pan.  Bake until toothpick comes out clean (I baked for 1 hour).  Cool in pan for about 10 minutes, remove to let bread finish cooling right side up.

I made a loaf this afternoon, and I'm not sure it will make it through tomorrow. ... Seriously.

=) Enjoy!

Andes Mint Cookies | Tasty Tuesday | Kayla Kitts Photography

I'm super excited today!  I've decided to feature some new and fun things on my blog in-between photography posts, and I'm looking forward to letting you all in on some of my favorite things.  First up...

Tasty Tuesday!
(Ohhhh la la, right?!)

--Andes Mint Cookies--

This recipe.  Let me tell you .. it has *quickly* become my favorite go-to recipe.  And when I say go-to, I really mean it.  Like keep the Devil's Food Cake Mix and Andes on hands at all times, kind of go-to.  Like borderline obsessed, go-to.  Like don't know how I ever survived without them, go-to.  And for good reason! ;)  They're so super easy, so super quick, and a total hit with every.one.  I wrap them in cellophane on a cute plate, or toss them in a goodie box and add some ribbon, and they make a great gift / treat / thank you for any occasion!

I found this delish recipe here on Six Sisters' Stuff and am so glad I did!

What you'll need:

1 box of Devil's Food Cake Mix (I use Betty Crocker)
1/2 cup oil
2 eggs
Andes Mints (1 per cookie)

What to do:

Mix cake mix, oil, and eggs together.  Drop spoonfuls of dough onto baking sheet.  (I use a dark, non-greased tray, and a 1 tbsp. measuring cup to spoon and measure the dough.)  Bake at 350 degrees for 7 minutes.  *They'll look puffy, they'll go down.  Do not over cook.*  While cookies are hot, place one Andes Mint onto each cookie.  Let the mint melt for about 5 minutes and use a spoon / spatula to spread the it around like frosting.

That's it.  Eat while warm, eat while cooled.  Either way, they'll be amazing.  Let them cool before packaging.

Congratulations, you now have the recipe to the easiest.cookies.ever!  =D

Tonita & Raf Maternity | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Engagement Photography

{Tonita, Raf, & Baby Girl}

The second I met Tonita and Raf on our bright and early morning, I could tell they were crazy about each other.  They giggled their way through the session, and had googly-eyes the whole time.  When they told me that they had met by Tonita's Craigslist ad, to find a dance partner, I knew I had to have them dance then and there.  How cute are these people?!  Their excitement was clear, and I am so excited for them!!

Congratulations on that sweet baby girl Tonita and Raf, and thank you so much for letting me be a part of this special time!

Ang & Jake Maternity | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Engagement Photography

{Jake, Ang & Baby}

I've known Ang for years.  She's always been the sweetest little thing.  Always.  Not a single day have I seen Ang anything but kind.  True story.  She has this caring way about her, the most gentle voice, and she's going to be getting her PhD (go girl!) -- so I was thrilled to hear that she was going to be having a precious little one!!  I was also thrilled to meet Jake.  He has such an easy-going vibe to him, with a perfect mixture of friendliness and sense of humor mixed in.  It was so much fun to watch Jake and Ang walk through the greenery, without a care in the world.  Just those two (soon-to-be-three), soaking in the sunset.  That baby is already loved, and that is clear!

Thank you both, so much, for letting me capture this special time in your lives.
I can't wait to meet that gorgeous baby!!!

Rachelle's Bridals | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Engagement Photography

I was overjoyed when Rachelle asked me to shoot her Bridal's!  I shot her and her new groom's engagement session (click here) and they were wonderful to spend time with, so naturally, I couldn't wait to spend another evening with Rachelle!  She is so beautiful inside and out, and it was no different when she got dolled up in her wedding attire.  I'm confident when I say she looked gorgeous on her wedding day (although they celebrated in Utah, so I wasn't there ... ;), and I'm sure her new husband was in uber-love when he saw this stunning bride at the end of his isle!

A huge congrats, to the newlyweds!!
<3 So so happy for you Mr. & Mrs. Luna <3

Doug & Victoria Engaged | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Engagement Photography

{Victoria & Doug}

I can't even start to explain how wonderful Victoria & Doug are!  They have this calm, sweet way about them, that makes me want to hang out with them all day.  I love Victoria and how adorable she is when she whips our her notebook in our meetings (yaaay for organized brides! =D), and I love Doug and how sweet he is as he admires his gorgeous bride.  These two have a lot on their plate, buying a house while wedding planning, and somehow balancing the rest of life all in between, yet their love glows and their excitement shines.

I simply *cannot* wait to photograph their wedding in August, I know it will be just gorgeous!!!

Collin Turns One | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Family Photography

{Collin Turns ONE!}

Oh.my.goodness.  Time goes way too fast.  It seems like just yesterday I was photographing Collin in his mama's tummy .. and now, well, now he's officially one!!  This adorable little man celebrated his birthday yesterday, along with his Grandpa (how cool is that =D).  I simply cannot believe how fast this year has gone, and am so thankful I've been able to watch him grow and learn.  He's seriously got the sweetest little personality, and a smile you just can't resist!

A very happy birthday to this sweet little guy.
A very happy birth day to his amazing mama.
And a very big round of applause to his wonderful parents for raising such a happy, healthy, sweet boy this year.  *clap clap clap clap clap* ;)

Also, a very big thank you to Chelle's Sweets for the adorable smash cake that indeed, got smashed!!

The Fitzgerald Family | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Family Photography

This family has my heart.  Totally and completely.  They are the cutest and sweetest little family, and if I could move in with them I would.  ;)  Haha!  That's kind of a little joke, because I just helped Kimber pack up to move

out

 of her house to move to another city for the summer, but don't mind me while I cry in the corner about it.  *But* .. I really would move in with them .. haha!  I know I can always count on both Kimber and Erik for a good laugh, and that cutie of a little kiddo they've got .. I mean com'n!!  Insta-smile.  Kimber was actually my bridesmaid last month, and I couldn't be more thankful.  She's so so kind, silly, passionate, loyal, hardworking, patient, and more.  I admire her for so many things, her loving (and fun-loving) marriage and how wonderful of a mama she is, both included.

Thank you, thank you, to the whole Fitzgerald gang for putting up with the wedding mayhem, putting up with crazy 'ol me ;), and letting me capture your family all along the way.  I couldn't ask for better friends, and I (we) will miss you bunches while you're away!!

{And a few silly little outtakes, just because}

Eli & Rachelle Engaged | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Engagement Photography

Eli & Rachelle.  One of the giggliest couples I've ever met .. ever!  They barely had to look at each other and they would just burst into a contagious giggle session =D.  These two little love birds met by working together at Chili's (yummy, one of my favs!  Mango habanero chicken pretty please.) and are super excited to get married in just a few short weeks!  They'll be getting married in Utah with their family and friends, and I couldn't be more happy for them.  After giggling our way through this session together, I have no doubt in my mind that they'll have lots of fun and laughter in their relationship.  Congrats to you, soon-to-be Mr. & Mrs -- I hope your wedding day, and life together, is absolutely perfect!!!

Kelsy's Bridals | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Engagement Photography

Oh, this stunning bride.  Where do I start?!  She is so beautiful inside and out, and her easy-going-demeanor is admirable to say the least!  When I asked her if she was stressed about her upcoming wedding, she would just cutely shrug and say, "Oh it'll all work out wonderful."  Wedding planning at the same time, this blew my mind, haha!  Her sweet little way of letting everything work out just how it's supposed to, is still so impressive to me!  <3  I was so so sad that I was unable to shoot her wedding because I was on my honeymoon, but I've heard it was so so lovely, and I wish Kelsy and her new husband, Marcus, a lifetime of happiness, and a whole lot o' fun!! ;)

Dexter & Amber Engaged | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Engagement Photography

Dexter and Amber are one of the sweetest couples I've ever met.  From the get-go they were up for anything and ready to have fun.  Watching them throughout their engagement session made it perfectly clear how in love they are, and how excited they are to be getting married after 5 years of dating.  Although Dexter chickened out on his first attempt to propose ;) ... he mustered up the courage the next morning and surprised Amber with her stunning ring in her glass of champaign.  After spending an afternoon with these two, and their sweet pup Ace, I'm so excited for them and what is to come in this excited step of life!!

All of my best wishes to the future Mr. & Mrs. Knight!

Collin Spring Session | Kayla Kitts Photography | Albuquerque Family Photography

{Little Collin and the Fitzgeralds}

Ohhh, this sweet family.  I simply cannot get enough of them, and am so thankful to be able to capture them while their adorable little man continues to grow!  I started photographing this gorgeous family while Collin was still in Kimber's belly, and it's amazing (and ridiculous!) how fast time flies!!  And while we were at it, I couldn't help but force them to get a couple family shots.  ;)

Thank you guys, for letting me watch and giggle as this guy's little personality starts to shine! =) <3
