A Family Trip to Durango | Kitts 2019
Durango, Colorado
Over the weekend, we took a quick trip up to Durango, Colorado to visit family and we had so much fun! It always feels so good to be there, and is the perfect blend of finding fun and just hanging out. This trip was no different - we definitely did a mix of fun and chill!
We cozied in as the snow came down and laughed endlessly playing games.
Kayden begged (and finally convinced) us to let her run out “real quick” and didn’t care one bit that she was soaked from those huge, wet flakes. It was a total success of completely making.her.day - and keeping the boys (Daxton + neighbors) in and dry as it quickly approached dark and was WINDY.
We went sledding the next day and every single one of us went flying down that hill, squealing of delight / terror. (Ok, mostly K + D in delight. Dominic and I in terror. We’re gettin’ old, and for a minute there, I feared for these old lady hips, HA!). Both of the kids went again and again, and again - getting faster and wilder each run - and it was so much fun!
And, we couldn’t go through town without a stop at Steamworks - our favorite Durango brewery with the most delicious Buffalo Chicken Sandwich.
There’s something about that sweet mountain town that makes my heart burst, and I’m so thankful that we get to go up there and enjoy it! I can’t wait for next time - in the meantime I’ll be over here daydreaming about Durango in the summer (and wishing to photograph another mountain wedding up there!)

BRAIN FLAKES
They’re the coolest! Our friends and family of all ages have has so much fun with these - and I love them because they come in an easy, light little bucket that you can take wherever! Everyone can create whatever they can imagine, and when you’re done, ya just toss ‘em back in the bucket and go.

WATER PENS
I’m a lover of these water pens too! You fill up their little base with water, and then squeeze as you go for water paints. I throw them in a zip-lock baggie with the watercolors - and they’re ready! We’ve taken them camping, on trips, and use them at home a lot when we need a calm + easy activity.

SNOW PANTS
We all know all about these, I’m sure. Let me say, we’re not picky. We live in the dessert and only need them a couple times a year (the rare occasion there’s enough snow here to play, or when we travel) - but I grabbed them hoping they would do the job, and sure enough!

SOCKS
It feels so silly to link socks on my blog, ha! But, these wool socks also did the job. The kids were so cozy and didn’t even notice when they outsides were wet - and they came in a perfect mix of colors so I just bought one pack and split it between kiddos and it was perfect.
