Behind the Scenes of 2019 | Wedding Days with Kayla + Dominic

Hi friends!

I’m back today with another fun post — a look back on the behind the scenes of 2019! I love these “look backs” so much, haha! It’s so fun for me to go through and reminisce about each day — wedding days that we had so much fun photographing, couples that we absolutely love!

I love that we have these little memories, little pockets in time from our view of days that we’ll cherish forever! So today… a little look back at a different view than the blog normally holds…

Last year we definitely tested light a lot! And smiled while we pretended to be the bride + groom a lot too..

Gave couples the run down on cake cutting. Always reminding them to cut slow and kiss after, ha!

Sweet Dominic is the King of carrying all the things. Wedding dresses, bouquets, jackets, grandmas walker, boxes of items, cameras, you name it - he’s carried it!

Lots of dress fluffing and snugging happens on wedding days, and we’re here for it!

And sometimes even a “big camera” selfie!

And sometimes even comfort a kiddo who needs a snuggle. (If you’re new around here, this is our little, Daxton — and this is our cousins wedding.)

Lots of portraits, and getting couples niiiice and close. :)

And bringing brides to see their grooms for the first time for their first look!!! AHHHH! WE LOVE THIS PART OF THE DAY!

Taking good care of all the details…

Which sometimes means working with the DJ to move a cake in from the rain during the first dance!

There’s so much pretty… and sometimes a photo-bomber, too!

We spend a lot of time making sure everything is just right…

And have a great time through it all!

Sometimes I have to pinch myself that we get to call this our job — photographing incredible people on incredible days!

We get to create such special memories with couples. Laugh with them, hug them, celebrate them — cry as they promise to forever, and fist pump for them after the ceremony.

We get to travel to beautiful places, and sometimes we even get to photograph our loved ones!

We witness the sweetest moments, like this special father-daughter-mother-son dance.

And try our very best to never catch on fire. HA!

We try to always keep it fun..

And help whenever we can. Like when Dominic crawled on the ground to try to light this lantern, haha!

We photograph beautiful little things..

And also gorgeous big rooms!

We fix last second issues..

And adventure around the beauty of New Mexico.

And sometimes do a little dance real quick before events get started..

A lot goes into everything behind the scenes, and we wouldn’t have it any other way! We’re so honored, humbled, and grateful to be a part of such wonderful moments and such special wedding days, and we LOVE that we get to photograph it, and live it!

It’s been quite a year! Thank you so much the sweet family members that welcome us in with open arms, the fun wedding parties who make our job full of laughter, and most of all — to the amazing couples who trust us with such a special time in their lives. We love you!!

Also, for fun — a behind the scenes shot of when I handed my camera to my brother-in-law while I went to go dance with my new sister-in-law for 5 minutes. Hire a professional friends, I promise you it’s worth it. ;)
